Winter surf sessions come alive at Sandspit in Santab Barbara, but this is no place for beginners. Situated near the Santa Barbara Harbor, Sandspit offers waves with heavy backwash and long-spinning tubes, creating an exhilarating challenge for experienced surfers. This "mutant" wave was created when the Army Corp of Engineers built the Santa Barbara Harbor in the 1920's.
